Cross Country Camp.

Mission

The Abington Friends Cross Country Camp is open to the first 30 registered male or female middle school and high school students of any ability. Our goal is to give you a great week of training tailored to your ability that will help build the foundation for a great cross country season. You will train with top-tier high school coaches and runners and have access to over 50 miles of wooded trails in Avelthorpe Park, Pennypack Park, and Lorimer Park.

Coach Rob Hewitt

Rob Hewitt is in his second year coaching and teaching at Abington Friends School. A graduate of St. Joseph’s University, where he lettered in Men’s Cross-Country and Track & Field, Hewitt spent 13 years at Germantown Friends School, leading the Tigers to 17 FSL Cross-Country championships and 15 FSL Track & Field championships. In addition, his GFS teams won 15 Pennsylvania Independent Schools (PAISAA) Cross-Country State Championships. Hewitt trained 34 Track & Field All-Americans in his time at GFS and was named PAISAA Coach of the Year five times. In 2016, Hewitt and his wife Claire, a former three-time Academic All-American in cross-country and track at Penn, became the Co-Head Coaches for Cross-Country and Track and Field at Earlham College. In their time at Earlham, the Hewitts led the Quakers’ Cross-Country and Track teams to unprecedented success with 66 all-conference athletes, 17 HCAC Track & Field Champions, and one NCAA DIII All-American during their tenure.
